The modern logical transformation of man's relationship with God. Questions and exclamations left unanswered. Jacob struggling with an angel for the artist is nothing more than a metaphor for the thirst for knowledge, the search for answers to his questions. A conversation with God, like life itself, is presented to the artist as a struggle and an argument. If He created us "in His own image and likeness," then why does He judge us? Why does he not elevate a person to the rank of his equals? A God-like man or a human-like god?
